Virtues of Holy Quran (Fazail E Amal - Quran)

These hurriedly written pages contain forty ahadith (Plural of hadith-a saying of the Holy Prophet (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam), which I have compiled on virtues of the Holy Quran, in obedience to such people whose words are law for me and following whom is most valuable to me. One of the special favours of Allah, the Sanctified and Pure, which have always descended upon the higher Madrash (religious school) of Mazahir-ul-Ulum, Sharanpur has been the annual gathering of this Madarash for the purpose of briefly mentioning the progress of the institution. For this gathering at the Madrasah, not much effort is made to collect speakers, preachers and the famous people of India, but
more attention is paid to invite men whose hearts are full of love for Allah and Masha'ikh (saintly people) who prefer to live unknown.

Ma'ariful-Quran

Foreword

Maulana Muhammad Taqi Usmani
"Ma'ariful-Qur'an is the name of a detailed Urdu commentary of the Holy Qur'an written by my father Maulan Mufti Muhammad Shafi one of the eminent scholars who served as a professor and as a grand Mufti of Darul-Uloom Deoband, the well-known university of the Islamic Sciences in the sub-continent of India. In 1943, he resigned from Darul-Uloom, due to his active involvement in the Pakistan movement, and when Pakistan came into existence, he migrated to Karachi where he devoted his life for this new homeland of the Muslims and served the country in different capacities. He also established  Darul-Uloom Karachi, an outstanding institute of Islamic Sciences on the pattern of Darul-Uloom Deoband, which is regarded today as the biggest private institute of higher Islamic education in Pakistan."

40 Ahadith On The Virtues On Women

In the ahadith reference is made of the merit, praise and glad tidings of virtuous women. Ahadith of the beloved Nabi saw regarding the respect, partiality and consideration to be shown to them and whose
study is equally necessary for pious men whereby they may recognize and appreciate the rights of their wives. By fulfilling their rights, one can attain the pleasure of this world and the next. Women, too, should
make this true and natural religion, which has given them a distinct place and honour, completely theirs.

Shamaail Tirmidhi - Khasaail Nabawi SAWS

The Saamaa-il of Imaam Abu 'Eesa Tirmiei has a collection of 397 ahadith and is divided into 55 chapters on the physical description and character of our beloved Nabi Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. It has been printed on numerous occasions and many commentaries have been written on it. The present English translation and commentary is of the Khasaa-il Nabawi Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam by the late Shaykhul Hadith Maulana Muhammad Zakariyya Rabmatullahi 'Alayhi. It will enable a Muslim to achieve a link and connection with the one whom Allah Ta'aala has made as a mercy unto mankind, and most certainly Allah has spoken the truth when He mentions in His Book: "Verily, you (0 Muhammad) are of a very high (noble) character"

Stories (Sacrifices & Devotion) Of The Sahabah RA (Fazail E Amal)

It was in the year 1353 A.H. that an eminent Sheikh, who is my patron and for whom I have every respect, enjoined me to compile a book containing stories of the companions of the Holy Prophet (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam), with special reference to the Faith and Practices of the women and children of his time. The main idea underlying this behest was that Muslim mothers, while going to bed at night, instead of telling myths and fables to their children, may narrate to them such real and true tales of the golden age of Islam that would create in them an Islamic spirit of love and esteem for Sahabah, and thereby improve their 'Imaan'; and the proposed book may, thus, be a useful substitute for the current story books. It became essential for me to comply with the desire of the Sheikh, for, besides being under moral debt and obligation to him for his immense beneficence, I consider the goodwill of such godly people to be the source of success in this world and the Hereafter.

The Life of the Sahaba RA (Hayatus Sahabah RA)

The biographies of the Sahabah contain the history of men who accepted the invitation of Islam when it was presented to them. Their hearts testified to its truth and all they said when they were called towards Allaah and His Rasool SAW was, "Our Rabb, we have certainly heard the caller (Rasulullaah SAW) calling to Imaan (saying), 'Believe in your Rabb!' so we believedN(').They placed'their hands in the hands of Rasurullaah SAW and it became easy for them to sacrifice their lives, their wealth and their families. They then began to find pleasure in the difficulties and hardships that afflicted them in the course of calling others towards Allaah. In this manner, conviction permeated their hearts and gained mastery over their bodies and their minds. They displayed the wonderful belief in the unseen, undying love for Allaah and Rasulullaah SAW compassion for the Mu'mineen and sternness towards the Kuffaar.

The Prophet Wazaif

Our Holy Prophet SAW has said :
“Every Muslim has Six duties to perform for every other Muslim.” and they are as follows:-
1. When he becomes sick, to visit him.
2. When he dies, to attend his funeral.
3. When called for, in a certain calamity, to assist him.
4. When he makes salaam, to reply.
5. When he sneezes, to say May Allah I have mercy on you.
6. And to always be a well wisher for him, whether he be present
or absent.

Virtues Of Blessings On Prophet SAW (Fazail - E - Durood)

Through the benevolence and favour of Allah and solely by His grace, and through the affection of His pious servants, this humble and sinful servant has written many books regarding virtues [of certain actions], which have also been incorporated into the programme of the tablīghī movement in Nizamuddin. Hundreds of letters from friends indicate that they have proven very beneficial.

This sinful servant has no part to play in this. Firstly, only by the grace of Allāh has it been possible. Secondly, the blessings of the Prophet(Sallallahu A’lihi Wassalam)ic sayings that have been translated in these books and thirdly, the blessings of the pious elders upon whose order these books have been written, has this book transpired. It is only through the grace of Allāh that the defects of this sinful servant were not an obstacle in the path of these blessings. O Allah, all praise is due to You and all gratitude is due to You. O Allah, I cannot enumerate your praises. You are as You have praised Yourself.

Live Like Brothers Deal Like Strangers

This short treatise, "LIVE LIKE BROTHERS - DEAL LIKE STRANGERS" is a translation of an article by Hazrath Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani Saheb (mudda Zilluhu). The original article titled "Mua'malaat Ki Safai Aur Tanazu 'aat" was published in the July-94 issue of the monthly urdu magazine Al-Balaagh. The basic lesson expounded in this article is the total clarification of all our transactions and monetary matters. Hazrath Mufti Muhammad Taqi Saheb (mudda zilluhu), in his capacity as a judge of the Shariah court, has immense experience in these matters. In the light of this experience he has vividly described the common problems that repeatedly occur in our dealings - and has given practical solutions to these problems.

Mudarabah

“Mudarabah” is a special kind of partnership where one partner gives money to another for investing it in a commercial enterprise. The investment comes from the first partner who is called “rabb-ul-mal”, while the management and work is an exclusive responsibility of the other, who is called “mudarib”.

Musharakah

‘Musharakah’ is a word of Arabic origin which literally means sharing. In the context of business and trade it means a joint enterprise in which all the partners share the profit or loss of the joint venture. It is an ideal alternative for the interest-based financing with far reaching effects on both production and distribution. In the modern capitalist economy, interest is the sole instrument indiscriminately used in financing of every type. Since Islam has prohibited interest, this instrument cannot be used for
providing funds of any kind. Therefore, ‘Musharakah’ can play a vital role in an economy based on Islamic principles.

Musharakah and Mudarabah as Modes of Finance

The concept of musharakah and mudarabah envisaged in the books of Islamic Fiqh generally presumes that these contracts are meant for initiating a joint venture whereby all the partners participate in the business right from it’s inception and continue to be partners upto the end of the business when all the assets are liquidated . One can hardly find in the traditional books of Islamic Fiqh the concept of a running business where partners join and leave the enterprise without affecting in any way the continuity of the business. Obviously, the classical books of Islamic Fiqh were written in an environment where the large scale commercial enterprises were not in vogue and the commercial activities were not so complex as they are today. Therefore, they did not generally dwell upon the question of such a running business.

Man has within himself two forces colliding all the time; the force of good and the force of evil. Man’s behaviour depends upon which force has the upper hand. In the month of Ramadhan, Allah blesses us with all the means to enable the force of good to supercede the evil forces. One must therefor

Easy Good Deeds

Introduction

Allah has created this world so that creatures living here may, through good actions, provide for the Hereafter and do deeds that may earn for them Divine pleasure. However, we become so engrosed in the affairs of worldly life that we become oblivious of the true purpose of this life. So every living moment from morn till eve is spent in making earthly life better and more and more pleasant. In this struggle there are few of Allah's bondsmen who think of bettering their lot in the Hereafter, although it is an established fact, which even tie most hardened atheist cannot deny, that everyone has to leave this world one day and none knows exactly when the summons would come.

Virtues of Hajj (Fazail - E - Hajj)

The missionary work of my late uncle has been ably taken over by his son Maulana Yusuf (R.A), who being filled with the same desire to let Islam shine once more, had visited the Holy Land solely for the purpose of commencing the Tablighi activity in Hejaz from where Islam originally shone forth. His father too, insisted on this, holding the view that when this movement takes root there, among the children of the people who originally spread it, much can be achieved. During his tow campaigns in Hejaz, Maulana Yusuf noticed that a vast numbers of the pilgrims who gather there annually are well nigh completely unacquainted with the virtues and aadaab of Hajj. They seem to be unaware of the vast blessing of this great form of worship with the result that they do not return home with the feelings, the inspiration and enthusiasm for righteousness with which they should have returned. For this reason Maulana Yusuf insisted on me that a booklet with Ahadith and explanation on Hajj should be compiled to be put before the Ummah so that intending Hajees should set forth for Hajj prepared with the proper enthusiasm for those special spiritual inspiration as are required by them. It is hoped that when the proper condition for Hajj is created within the heart of the Hajjee, he shall have the desire to carry out the functions of the Deen more diligently. Further, when more and more such people performing Hajj in proper fashion are present, their intermingling with the Arabs will surely encourage the Arabs to have serious thoughts about Islam and working for Islam.

Virtues of Salat/Namaz (Fazail E Amal - Salat)

The indifference of Muslims towards practising Islam these days is too well known. So much so that even Salaat, which is the most important pillar of Islam (after Imaan) and the first and the foremost thing to be reckoned on the Day of Judgement, is being badly neglected. Although every call to 'Islam', nowadays, seems to be only a cry in the wilderness, yet experience shows that efforts in this direction are not altogether fruitless. The glorious words of the Holy Prophet (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) are sure to benefit those with a receptive and submissive frame of mind. With this idea in view and to comply with the long-standing request of some of my dear friends, I have taken upon myself to write this booklet, which is the second of the series on 'Tabligh', the first one being "Virtues of Tabligh."

Virtues of Zikir/Rememberance of Allah (Fazail E Amal - Zikir)

The sacred name of Almighty Allah carries the blessings, taste, sweetness, thrill, and peace of mind that is invariably experienced by one who has practised and remained absorbed in His zikr for a considerable time. This name brings joy to the heart and peace of mind. Today there is a wave of discontentment in the whole world; and the letters that I receive daily contain mostly accounts of worries and anxieties. The object of this booklet is that people who lack peace of mind, whether in an individual or collective capacity, may be told how to overcome their malady and that the good and blessed persons may be benefitted by the general publication of the virtues of zikr of Almighty Allah. It is just possible that the study of this booklet may inspire some people to recite the sacred name of Allah with sincerity (ikhlaas) and this may prove useful to me (also) at the time when only good deeds will prove helpful. Of course, Almighty Allah can, through His sheer grace, forgive one who has no good deeds to his credit.

Wedding Customs

The innovations incorporated in wedding ceremonies and the violation of the Shari'ah are alarming to any Allah fearing person, not to speak of the expense incurred at a time when nearly half the Ummah is barely making ends meet.
This booklet aims at explaining the origins of wedding rituals in this day and age, with the hope that individuals can assess how deeply they have immersed themselves in imitating the non-Muslims. The social pressures of weddings are analysed and examples of an Islamic wedding from the first generation are cited. Numerous Ayah from the Holy Qur'an and ahadith are also quoted for the unbiased individual to take heed and make an objective view.

A Gift For Women- What She Must Know

Certain Islamic laws are directed exclusively at women. But these same laws are what women are not aware of, not because of ignorance but because of modesty and shyness, which prevent them from asking others about these laws. Unfortunately, men also pay very little attention to such laws, because they are not affected by them directly. Thus, these laws have been compiled in the form of a booklet under
separate headings. Such a booklet is greatly needed.

Marriage A Form of Ibadah

A myth that western culture believes is that Islam teaches oppression of women. A woman’s youth, clothes, habits, marriage, motherhood, etc, are all in subjugation. This is hideously false. Islam teaches that a woman’s role in the house is that of royalty, dignity and respect. Sadly many Muslims adopting customs native to their birthplace, have shown their bad habits and mannerisms as representative of Islam whereas this is not the case.

Numerous Ahadith have explained the elevated status of women, how they should be respected and even revered.

Muslim Degeneration And Its Only Remedy (Fazail E Amal)

For the high devotion, keenness and perseverance of Hadhrat Mohammad Ilyas (Rahmat-Allah-Alaihi) and also due to the profound zeal shown by many other learned and pious personages among Muslims, a cohesive work is currently in progress for the propagation of Islam and the Islamic way of life. This fact is known to most of the well informed Muslims of this period. Although an unworthy being for the high mission; I have been commanded by the distinguished gentlemen referred to above to write an account of this work, so as to bring out clearly the special features of propagation (Tabligh) and also to highlight the burning need for this, the Supreme Islamic activity, at this critical juncture, so that, as many Muslims as possible are able to understand and benefit from what is going on.

Remembrance Of Death

For almost 30 years it has been the practice of this servant to listen to the biographies, sayings or generally understood compilations of his elders in the gathering after the, 'Asr salaah. The reason fordoing so is that during this time besides the daily average of 30 to 40 visitors the local people also come. Hence, it is may heart's desire that some of the jewels of these elders fall on their ears which would benefit them in both the worlds. This servant does not know how to deliver lectures and does not desire to waste his time in futile talk.

It is not only good conviction, but rather, it is a reality that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta 'aala through His Bounty and Grace had given these elders a complete portion in following the Sunnah of Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). Those who are well aware of the life, practices and sayings of Prophet (Sallullahu Alaihi Wasallam) and who participated in the gathering of these elders for a few days will themselves realise this fact. The sayings of these elders are pieces of jewels and their silence a means of internal (spiritual) progress.

Contemporary Fatawa

Islam means to surrender absolutely to the Divine Will, as manifested and expressed in the Holy Qur'an and the Prophetic life model known as the Sunnah.
This absolute surrender to the Divine will in all possible lifeexperiences, and in all facts of life, is based on a fundamental premise Allah, whose essence and attributes are perfect, and who is the source of all good, represents absolute wisdom. Allah is therefore the supreme legislator. Allah (whose essence and attributes cannot be fully perceived by man)has prescribed through the Holy Qur'an and prophetic life-model ("Sunnah"), a comprehensive and all-encompassing code of life to enable man to recognize and perceive his creator, and to enable man to follow the Divine will.

In Islam Legal Rulings On Saughtered Animals

Introduction

The consumption of lawful food is an issue of paramount importance for every Muslim. There is a direct link between the consumption of lawful foods and the ability of a person to worship Allah. Rasulullah SAW has also issued a very severe warning for those people who consume unlawful food. He is reported to have said, "The body of a person who is nourished 1 by unlawful food will not enter Jannah (paradise)."'

Shabe Baraat (The fifteenth of Shabaan)

Introduction

Allah Ta'ala has, due to His infinite grace and mercy, presented to His bondsmen some special occasions wherein they have a golden opportunity of earning the mercy and forgiveness of Allah. Some explicit examples of these special occasions are the month of Ramadam and Laylatul Qadr. In the same mould is the fifteenth night of Sha'baan. Several Ahaadith extol the tremendous merit of this occasion. Amongst them is the fact that countless people are forgiven by Allah during this blessed night. It is due to this reason that this night is called "The night of Bara'at" (i.e. the night wherein judgement of saviour from Jahannam and punishment is passed).

Socio Political Thought Of Shah WaliAllah RA

Introduction

Shah Wali Allah was a prolific writer whose contributions range over the entire spectrum of the classical Islamic disciplines: Qur'anic Studies, Hadith methodology, applied and theoretical jurisprudence, and Islamic mysticism. In the Indo-Pakistani sub-continent he is seen as an intellectual inspiration behind almost all contemporary interpretations of Muslim thought. Modernists, Ahl-i Sunnat wa al-Jam'at, Ahl-i Hadith, Deobandis, the Jamat-i Islami and others view him as an intellectual precursor to their own interpretations of Islam.

Virtues of Tabligh/Invitation (Fazail E Amal - Tabligh)

We praise Him, and we ask His blessings on His noble Prophet.
First, I give thanks to Allah, who has enabled me to write this booklet on Tabligh. One of the best of the Muslim scholars of this age has advised me to select a few verses of the Holy Qur'an and some sayings of the Hioly Prophet (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) on Tabligh, and explain the same. Since my humble services to such sincere believers can be a means of salvation for me. I present this useful pamphlet to every Islamic School, Islamic Association, Islamic Government, rather to every Muslim, and request them to serve the sacred cause of Tabligh in their own way.

Why Follow Madhab And Correct Way Of Salat In Hanafi Madhab

Introduction

Very often the following question is posed to many people: "Do you follow the Deen of Imaam Abu Hanifa (R.A.) or the Deen of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)?" "Obviously the Deen of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)," comes the instant reply. The second question is then posed: "Why then do you call yourself a Hanafi?" The person not well versed is perplexed by this question. Doubts are then created in his mind. He soon starts gradually drifting towards the abandoning of taqleed i.e. following one of the four illustrious Imaams viz. Imaam Abu Hanifa (R.A.), Imaam Shafi'i (R.A.), Imaam Malik (R.A.) and Imaam Ahmad bin Hanbal (R.A.).

By means of the type of questions that have been mentioned above, a deliberate attempt is made to create a misconception in the minds of the unwary — that if you are a Hanafi, you are following the Deen of Imaam Abu Hanifa (R.A.), NOT the Deen of Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). This is an absolute fallacy. Imaam Abu Hanifa (R.A.), Imaam Shafi'i (R.A.) and the other Imaams did not invent any Deen of their own. They strictly followed the one and only Deen — the Deen of Islam brought by Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). Their followers are hence also following the same Deen — the Deen of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam).
